Total Phase has now officially launched the Advanced Cable Tester v2, a complete solution for USB, Apple Lightning and video cables
Forstinning – October 22, 2019 – eVision System GmbH, Total Phase’s sole authorized distributor in the DACH region, introduces the Advanced Cable Tester v2, a cable tester for USB, Apple Lightning, HDMI and Display Port cables.
The Advanced Cable Tester v2 is the most comprehensive and accurate cable tester on the market today. Test time has been reduced by 80% compared to its predecessor and the cost per test run has also been reduced. In addition, the Advanced Cable Tester v2 offers improved measurement of Rp, Rd and Ra resistances, full support for Power Delivery 3.0, and graphical analysis of shorts, breaks and correct wiring. These enhancements make the instrument an ideal tool for quick testing in production and detailed failure analysis and spot checks in the lab.
Like its predecessor, the Advanced Cable Tester v2 offers continuity testing on all pins. The DCR and IR drop tests can be used to ensure that each power supply pin (VBUS and GND) can meet the required current load of the respective specification. The specified data in the E-Marker chip and the actual parameters of the cable are compared. Signal integrity tests at speeds of up to 12.8 Gbps per channel with the associated eye diagrams are also possible.

The Advanced Cable Tester v2 allows users to test multiple USB, Apple Lightning and video cable types, including Type-C, Standard-A, Micro-B, Standard-B, HDMI and DisplayPort via easily interchangeable connector modules. Available connector modules include:

- USB Type-C to USB Standard-A (USB 3.2 and earlier versions)
- USB Type-C to USB Micro-B (USB 3.2 and earlier versions)
