eVision Systems announces 100BaseT1 Automotive Ethernet Protocol Analyzer from Prodigy Technovations

Forstinning (Germany), 25. Sept. 2020 – eVision Systems GmbH, authorized Prodigy Technovations distributor for Central Europe has announced the PGY-100BASE-T1-PA 100BaseT1 Automotive Ethernet Protocol Analyzer. The PGY-100BASE-T1-PA is the industry’s first standalone passive TAP Ethernet protocol analyzer for the automotive industry. With this device, Prodigy enables non-intrusive monitoring of the 100BaseT1 bus at the physical layer, ensuring latency-free and accurate log data collection over a long period of time.

The feature-rich ADAS systems require radar and camera systems with very high performance and resolution As a result, the bus systems in the vehicles require more and more speed and bandwidth. Automotive Ethernet’s two-wire full-duplex 100BASET1 (PAM3) signalling meets the automotive industry’s needs and provides high-speed data communication. The implementation of Automotive Ethernet in vehicles brings with it several challenges. Among other things, errors in the data communication between the individual electronic control units (ECUs) must be found and corrected.

Prodigy Technovations developed the 100BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet Protocol Analyzer for this purpose. The PGY-100BASE-T1-PA provides interference-free passive access on the physical layer of the 100BASE-T1 bus. Ethernet packets are captured with high-resolution time stamping, and timing problems between master and slave ECUs are analyzed. Powerful basic and multi-level Layer 2 to Layer 7 protocol trigger functions allow the design engineer to capture protocol activity on specific events. The analyzer supports continuous recording of captured log data to the hard disk of the connected computer, enabling long-term logging.

Key Features of the PGY-100BASET1-PA

Automotive Ethernet Protocol Analyzer:

  • Protocol decoding and analysis of the 100BaseT1 bus.
  • Passive access provides a non-intrusive method of
  • Monitoring the 100BaseT1 bus
Powerful trigger functions at multiple protocol layers allow data to be collected on specific events.
  • Decoding of T10 sleep and
  • wakeup events from master and slave
  • Continuous streaming of log activities to the hard disk of the connected computer enables long-term log data acquisition

Simultaneous monitoring of 100BaseT1 and MDIO/MDC protocol activities
“Automotive Ethernet design and test engineers are faced with the problem of not being able to capture long term data while passively testing the 100BaseT1 bus for reliable protocol analysis,” explained Josef Ostermeier, Business Development Manager at eVision Systems. “The PGY-100BASE-T1-PA solves this problem by passively polling the 100BaseT1 bus and providing reliable data capture for accurate timing and protocol analysis over a long period of data acquisition.”
